Homeless to be discussed

As part of National Homeless and Hunger Awareness Week, local homelessness and hunger will be discussed at a community forum from 7 to 9 p.m. Wed., Nov. 16 in Nygreen Hall on the California Lutheran University campus, 60 W. Olsen Road, Thousand Oaks.

“Many equate homelessness with living under a bridge in Ventura,” said Chris Poynter, program and development director of the local chapter of Lutheran Social Services. “But the fact is, there are more than 1,000 homeless individuals in the Conejo Valley alone. More and more families can’t afford to live here and are being evicted.”
