Viewpoint hosts researcher

Viewpoint School in Calabasas recently hosted an appearance by Aaron White, PhD, alcohol researcher at Duke University Medical Center, as part of the Secondary School Committee’s Parent Education series. Speakers in this series will discuss adolescent issues with parents and give presentations to Viewpoint’s middle and upper school students during assemblies. White is a nationally-recognized biological psychologist. He discussed the brain development of adolescents and shared his insights on the opportunities and vulnerabilities that arise from the changes that occur in the brain during the teen years.

In particular, he addressed the impact of alcohol on adolescent brain function, patterns of alcohol use among young adults, and strategies to prevent alcohol abuse.
