Todd August for city council I am pleased to endorse Todd August for Agoura City Council. Todd has taken the time to meet with many local leaders like myself, to review his thoughts on addressing complex issues, such as traffic congestion and sustainable funding for our schools. What comes through loud and clear is a passion and energy to try new ideas to tackle longstanding problems. He recognizes that traffic doesn’t end at one city’s border. He understands that if all the cities in our region work collaboratively to help our schools, bringing together our best ideas and resources, the possibilities are endless. He points to the value of building a consensus and enlisting other regional leaders to strengthen the leverage for a city fighting for road improvements, open space or other resources. And he shares with me a core belief that government should be transparent, providing all citizens a fundamental right to know how decisions are made and how their money is spent. Government will always be a work in progress. Change is a healthy ingredient of that progress. One person can make a difference; but it does not happen by accident. I hope you will vote for Todd August on Nov. 8. Barry Groveman Mayor, City of Calabasas Todd August is the right choice for city council. Todd will ensure that our city’s tax base is growing and stable. This, in turn, will provide funding for our schools. Todd is honest and ethical. He will bring honesty and transparency to our city council. Right now, many local residents have no idea what the Agoura Hills City Council spends our tax monies on. Todd has worked at UCLA for close to 15 years, managing a $12 million budget. In this important position, Todd has always felt it was his responsibility to ensure that anyone interested had access to the information on exactly how these public funds are spent. He will bring this same work ethic to the Agoura City Council. As vested residents here, we deserve this information. Todd has one of the strongest “can do” attitudes I have ever seen. He is organizd, efficient, and tenacious. These attributes have served him well. With Todd on the job, projects such as the Kanan interchange will not drag on indefinitely. Todd is also a family man, like many of you. He is an amazing father and husband. He has served as a referee for AYSO, as assistant coach in the Agoura Pony League and as assistant tribe leader for our Agoura-based Indian Guides. Todd also understands balance. He is interested in preserving our open space, yet he recognizes the need to balance our environment with business growth and increased tax revenue in order to support our small business owners. It’s time for positive change and fresh ideas that will benefit all of us. I encourage you to vote for Todd August. Mila August Agoura Hills I’m so impressed with Todd August’s courage that I wanted to write and ask people to vote for him. It takes a lot to stand up for what you believe is right, even if it means leaving yourself open to criticism. Since announcing his candidacy, Todd had endured attacks directed at him from people who don’t want to see positive change. But that hasn’t stopped Todd from publicly discussing what we all know: that our city is not headed in the right direction and there needs to be a change in leadership. Todd is the only candidate who believes there are creative solutions to traffic and a way to find harmony between economic development and preserving our environment. He also believes all of us have a right to participate in the governance of our city, not just the select few who agree with the current leadership. Jack Daniels Agoura Hills Why is it the city of Agoura Hills makes it so difficult to know what they’re doing? All our neighboring cities have live broadcasts of their city council meetings. Ours is tape delayed. All our neighbors have on-line access to their budgets and strategic plans. In Agoura Hills, you need to fill out forms, pay a fee and then wait for several days. Other cities make input from the general population a priority, while our city begrudges your input unless you are one of their buddies. It’s time to start listening to those of us who pays the bills. It’s time to elect someone not tied to the current administration. I’m voting for Todd August on Nov. 8. Nicole McAdam Agoura Hills |
