Famous U-boat discovery to be discussed

New York Times bestselling author Robert Kurson will lecture on his nonfiction work “Shadow Divers,” at 7 p.m. Wed., Nov. 2 at the Santa Barbara Maritime Museum, on the waterfront at the harbor, 113 Harbor Way, Ste. 190, Santa Barbara. The event, “An Evening with Robert Kurson,” is a fundraiser benefiting programs at the museum.

“Shadow Divers” is the story of two divers, John Chatterton and Richie Kohler, consumed by their quest to identify a “mystery wreck” off the coast of New Jersey after a charter boat captain noticed rust on his fishing lures, setting off an exploration that lasted six years and that culminated in identifying the wreck as a missing World War II U-boat. Kurson is a Harvard Law School graduate whose writing has appeared in major newspapers and magazines He will sign books (available at the museum store) following his lecture.

Tickets are $50 for museum members and $75 for the general public. Reservations are recommended due to limited space.
