If elected, Adam Lewis Guynes will focus on youth Election 2005
Adam Lewis Guynes Adam Lewis Guynes hopes to make a difference for the youth of Agoura Hills if he’s elected to the city council on Nov. 8.
Guynes, 20, a psychology student who resides with his parents, is one of six candidates running for three open city council seats.
“I am running for city council because I think that there are some issues in the city that are very important to me, that do not seem to be getting any attention from anyone else,” Guynes said.
“Most people think that the biggest issue facing Agoura Hills is the Kanan interchange project, but I think that there is a lot going (on) with the younger people in this city,” Gynes said.
Guynes said he believes illicit drug use by area teens is rampant. He would like to develop more constructive pastimes for teens that don’t involve drug use.
“My vision of Agoura Hills is a place where there is no cocaine use in the middle school, where there are constructive things for the younger people to get involved in, and a place that looks as nice to drive through as it is a place to live,” Guynes said.
To combat what he believes is a pervasive drug problem, Guynes said he would encourage more youth-oriented businesses in the city.
“I think it would be great for there to be a place for younger people to go and work instead of going to other towns, working for their businesses and spending money at their retailers,” he said.
Guynes is seen as a longshot in the race, but said, “I just want to be taken seriously.”
