Sheriff to host youth festival

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department will host its third annual Our Community Celebrates Youth from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sat., Nov. 5 at Juan Bautista de Anza Park, 3701 Lost Hills Road, Cala-basas. This event features children’s health and safety tips and handson demonstrations by the Sheriff’s Department.

Entertainment will be provided by several musical groups. The U.S. Territorial Marshals/California will perform Western entertainment and stunt shows.

The festivities will include sack races, a deputy dunk tank, a rock climbing wall, mega slide and obstacle course, hay rides, pie eating contests, games and free raffles. There will also be various demonstrations by law enforcement units such as the bomb squad and K-9 unit. A helicopter and race car will be on display. Special booths devoted to health information will be on site, and food will be available for purchase.

The event is a joint effort of the Sheriff’s Department, the Kiwanis Club of CalabasasAgoura and the Las Virgenes Optimist Club.

Admission is $3 with $1 from each ticket to be donated to local schools. Other proceeds will benefit the Sheriff’s Star Camp Program and other youth programs sponsored by the Kiwanis and Optimist Clubs.
