Candidate speaks out The choice is clear this election year. We can have more of the same or the people can vote for change in Agoura Hills. Since the incorporation of the city in the 1980s, the same handful people have has been in charge at city hall. I believe it’s time for some new blood and fresh ideas, not the status quo. Over the past few years, the Agoura Hills City Council and Planning Commission have not represented the interests of the people in our city. They have implemented bad policy, like the approval and construction many office buildings. This needs to stop. Agoura Hills does not need to be the office building capital of the Conejo Valley. The Agoura Hills City Council also needs to work better with other levels of government. Their relationship with other city councils in the area, the Las Virgenes Unified School District and the law enforcement community needs to improve. When elected, I will reach out and meet with the elected officials and community leaders in our area to foster a positive working relationship so we can address the issues facing our region. My background and experience will make me an effective member of the city council. As a volunteer for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and the Los Angeles Police Department, I have learned that lowering crime and effective policy are greatly aided by community involvement. When elected, I’m going to launch a “volunteers in policing” program in Agoura Hills. Protecting our quality of life and public safety are among my top priorities. It’s time for a change in Agoura Hills. My candidacy offers you that breath of fresh air we need at city hall. My name is George Christopher Thomas and I ask for one of your three votes on Nov. 8.
