Local school to help UNICEF

On Mon., Oct. 31, Chaparral Elementary School students will participate in a charitable form of trick-or-treating as they collect spare change for UNICEF.

All donations the students collect in special orange UNICEF boxes will be donated to the organization whose mission is to save and improve the lives of children worldwide. Last year students raised nearly $1,500 for UNICEF. Students are hoping residents will remember them and have spare change ready to support their fundraising efforts.

Fourth-grade teacher Alina Silvestre was instrumental in bringing the program to the Calabasas school.
