The Agoura Hills Library offers a variety of activities through December at the library, 29901 Ladyface Court, Agoura Hills.
The library celebrated its fourth anniversary yesterday, Wed., Oct. 26. To honor the anniversary, Agoura Car Wash at 30245 Canwood St. donated proceeds from cars washed on Sat. and Sun., Oct. 22 and 23 to the Friends of the Agoura Hills Library. The donations will enhance summer reading programs and cultural programs, and will purchase new books and other library services for children and adults.
All entries for the 26th annual Bookmark Contest must be returned to the library by Sat., Oct. 29. The contest is open to students from kindergarten through eighth grade. Entries must be in black ink or black felt tip pen and must relate to books or reading. For contest specifics, call librarian Grace Bernard at (818) 889-2278.
Weekly story time programs will continue through Dec. 14. Toddler Time is at 11 a.m.
Wednesdays for ages 2 to 3. Preschool Time for ages 3 to 5 is 11:30 a.m. Mondays and 11 a.m. Tuesdays. The programs feature stories, music and crafts.
At 3:30 p.m. Tues., Nov. 15, a Children’s Book Week celebration will teach participants how to make a book.
At 6:30 p.m. Tues., Nov. 15 Ken Fermoyle will discuss “Book Collecting for Fun and Profit.”
Under its “Books for Uniformed Services” program, the Friends have adopted a military unit that will be deployed to the Middle East/Far East in November. Agoura Hills residents are members of this unit.
Donations of hygiene items or non-perishable foodstuffs (no chocolate) may be included
along with shipments of books, which will be paid for by the
Friends. Donations may be dropped off in the labeled box at the library.
Donations of books, magazines, CDs and videos are always appreciated by the Friends of the Agoura Hills Library, who operate the Book Cellar from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays. Sale of donated items enables the Friends to continue their support of many library services and programs.
