Book fair to open with dramatic flair Round Meadow Elementary School will enter the “Kingdom of Reading” as it hosts a Scholastic Book Fair beginning today, Thurs., Oct. 20 at the school, 5151 Round Meadow Road, Calabasas. Opening “Knight” begins at 6:30 p.m. with a stage performance of “The Legends of King Arthur” by actors from the Will Geer Theatricum Botanicum in Topanga. The theatrical opening is free. The Book Fair raises funds for library personnel, resource and library materials, and other specialists at Round Meadow. The fair will feature an array of specially-priced books and educational products, including newly released works, award-winning titles, children’s classics, interactive software and current children and adult bestsellers. “We are thrilled a renowned professional repertory theatre, known for incorporating stage programs in the education of children, will be bringing this historical period to life as a part of our medieval-themed Book Fair,” said Rose Dunn, principal of Round Meadow. After the opening, the fair will be open each day from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. through Thurs., Oct. 27. Attendees can help build classroom libraries by purchasing and donating books for teachers through the Classroom Wish List program. Book Fair proceeds also will be used to purchase essential classroom resources. |
