Malibu Inn misrepresented

Why was Steve Hess allowed to write a Guest Opinion in the Oct. 6 Acorn? Granting this special favor to Steve not only gave him a privilege position in the paper, but also allowed Mr. Hess to circumvent the 300-word maximum that everyone else has to abide by when they submit letters.

In addition, I take issue with Mr. Hess’s blatant error in referring to the Malibu Valley Inn and Spa as the Malibu Valley Inn and Convention Center. There is no convention center component to this project and to infer so is to continue the misleading statements that the federation has come to be known for.

The banquet building is hardly a “convention center.” The building contains five meetings rooms totaling 10,230 square feet. The rest of the building space is for housekeeping, maintenance storage, kitchens and a small retail component. The building is designed to accommodate small groups who hold retreats at the Inn and Spa and provides meeting space for local groups. Sarah Hyman Calabasas
