It’s politics as usual As election time approaches in Agoura Hills, our city council and planning commission have made it clear that the mendacities of dirty politics will continue. They have failed us and our city, and now they are lying to us. It is time to rid ourselves of this corrupt troupe of politicians and vote for change on Nov. 8. Not content with delivering us over 20 years of stagnation, nor with rendering our beautiful city the embarrassment of the Conejo, now Councilmember Dan Kuperberg thinks he’s allowed to lie about city council candidate George Thomas (The Acorn, Oct. 6). Mr Kuperberg, why did you tell The Acorn that you have never heard any mention of Thomas’ involvement in lobbying for Kanan funds when former Mayor Louise Rishoff e-mailed you and the entire council about it many times? This political machine thinks we haven’t noticed their “let’s all endorse each other and run the city together and nobody will notice we’re useless if we cite each other’s lofty endorsements” game. This is Tammany Hall politics at its dirtiest and we don’t deserve it. The city council/planning commission fraternity has gone too far. We have the opportunity to elect a candidate who will put the future of the city above the ambitions of his friends. George Thomas will listen to what you want (did anyone ask for another office building?) and hear your hopes for the future of Agoura Hills. This George Thomas’ third council bid, as so cutely highlighted by The Acorn, a fact that demonstrates his dedication to the city and commitment to the idea that Agoura Hills simply should be better. He possesses those vital qualities so sadly lacking in our current officials, namely, honesty (Are you listening, Mr. Kuperberg?), vision of what Agoura Hills can be and energy to turn that vision into a brighter future for our city. Please, vote for change on Nov. 8. Vote Thomas. Joanne Lewis Agoura Hills |
