Resource Center offers services for women

The Conejo Valley Women’s Resource Center (WRC) is a nonprofit, licensed medical cliniccommunity service organization dedicated to providing support for women, youth and families in difficult pregnancy situations.

Since openeing in May 1985, the center has provided more than 20,000 women in Ventura County and the surrounding areas with pregnancy confirmation, counseling and limited ultrasound scans; adoption and post-abortion counseling; education on abortion and alternatives, lifestyle, relationships and sexual health; postabortion, single moms and parenting groups and classes; and medical, financial, legal and housing referrals. All services are free and confidential.

In addition, the WRC is currently providing testing for sexually transmitted diseases as well as sexual health education and disease treatment and prevention.

At 6 p.m. Sun., Oct. 30, WRC will host its annual banquet, “Soaring into the Future,” at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library’s Air Force One Pavilion, 40 Presidential Drive, Simi Valley. Guests will dine under the wings of Air Force One and tour the jet.

The special guest will be actor Jim Caviezel, who starred in Mel Gibson’s “The Passion of the Christ.” Other celebrity guests include Kirk Cameron and Pat Boone.

The 20th anniversary gala fundraising event will include the banquet and tours, presentation of awards and music by members of the Celeste Clydesdale Children’s Choir of Westlake Village. There will also be silent and live auctions.
