Sisters of Holy Cross receive compassion award Sr. M. Carolita Hart, CSC and the Sisters of the Holy Cross will receive the Compassion Award during the Serra Project’s 16th annual “A Faire of the Heart XVI” beginning with a VIP reception and silent auction preview at 6 p.m. Wed., Nov. 9 at the California Club, 538 S. Flower St., Los Angeles. The Serra Project is a leading provider of supportive housing in Los Angeles County to homeless men, women and children living with HIV and AIDS. Founded in 1987, the Serra Project creates a nurturing, caring and compassionate place to call home for those left destitute by their battles with HIV and AIDS. As the needs of those living with HIV and AIDS evolve in the face of the changing nature of the epidemic, the Serra Project is committed to providing housing options that reflect these changes, ranging from transitional group housing homes to independent housing with support services. The Sisters of the Holy Cross and the event’s other honoree, Latham & Watkins LLP, which will receive the Community Spirit Award, are being recognized for their support of the Serra Project. The event is titled “A Celebration of Compassion, Community and Care Giving with Hope.” Tickets are $300 and each event ticket includes $30 credit per person for any one item purchased at the evening’s silent auction. A general reception and the silent auction will be at 6:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 7:30 p.m. Guests may dance to the music of the Paul Puccinelli Jazztet. The California Club maintains a dress code so guests are advised to wear business or dress attire. For more information, call Jennifer Duke at (562) 424-4897. |
