Pavley to host barbecue honoring firefighters

State Assemblywoman Fran Pavley (D-Woodland Hills) will host a free community barbecue from noon to 2 p.m. Sun., Oct. 30 at Deerhill Park in Oak Park to thank firefighters who responded to the recent brushfires.

“I’ve heard nothing but gratitude from the residents about the extraordinary response from our fire professionals to the fast-moving wildfires we just experienced. I want to give families a chance to come out and meet these brave firefighters in person, to express their appreciation to them,” said Pavley.

Joining Pavley will be Ventura County Supervisor Linda Parks, Los Angeles County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky and others.

Firefighters from Los Angeles County, Ventura County, the city of Los Angeles and from other departments who responded as part of mutual aid will be doing the cooking.

Children are invited to make thank you notes or posters to show their appreciation. Free fire safety coloring books will be available for children. For adults there will be information on how to protect their homes from brushfires.
