Bids to go out for Mae Boyer renovation

The board of directors for the Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District voted recently to seek construction bids the renovation of Mae Boyar Park in Oak Park.

The project will replace the aging playground structure on the nearly six-acre park, enlarge the playground area and add new trees. The work will cost between $200,000 and $220,000, officials said. Renovation includes enlarging the playground area by about 1,500 square feet, adding a rubberized surface and replacing the playground structure.

The old playground structure will continue standing until the new one is ready.

The district plans to advertise for construction bids on Nov. 15. Duran said he expects the contract to be awarded at the Nov. 17 board meeting.
