JANN HENDRY/Acorn Newspapers JUST KICKIN’ IT—Westlake’s Brandon Merritt boots a kickofduring the Warriors’ loss to Simi Valley last weekend. On FridayWestlake will take on crosstown rival Thousand Oaks. The Lancers defeated Westlake, 27-24, last season. Outlook: Since 1973, Westlake and Thousand Oaks have faced off 25 times. Both schools have won 11 games and there have been three ties.

Westlake let a 16-point halftime lead slip away against Simi Valley last week en route to a 29-23 loss, the Warriors fourth straight defeat and second loss in Marmonte play.

Unless Westlake can find a way to get back on track against Thousand Oaks, they could be in danger of missing the postseason for the second consecutive year.

T.O. bounced back from its first defeat of the season to down the defending league champion Royal Highlanders, 28-18, last Friday. The Lancer defense limited Royal to just 60 yards passing.

Outlook: With both schools coming off losses, this matchup between Agoura and Royal takes on added importance in the Marmonte standings.

It’s almost a must win for Chargers, who are 0-2 in league after blowing a 31-16 fourth-quarter lead last weekend against Moorpark.

Agoura quarterback Dominick Huerta was on fire early against Moorpark, connecting with wideout J.T. Wright on scoring tosses of 21 and 80 yards. But it was Huerta’s three fourth-quarter interceptions that let the Musketeers back into the contest.

Royal was downed by Thousand Oaks, 28-18, despite rushing for 251 yards as a team.
