A community that cares

I would like to thank all the people of Conejo Valley for their hospitality and generosity to my wife’s sister and her husband.

They arrived here 10 days after Hurricane Katrina to stay with us until the water receded and conditions got better enough to return. They lived in a suburb of New Orleans called Kenner, La. They arrived with their dog and the husband’s mother and as much clothes as a medium-sized sedan would hold.

Every time we took them out or they were out in the neighborhood on their own, when the neighbors heard about their plight, they bent over backwards offering assistance.

Restaurants offered big discounts on meals, unknown members of the community picked up their tabs and even offered clothes and services just like that. I have never seen such outpouring of concern, hospitality and generosity.

Conejo Valley, I salute you.
