Chabad to host ‘One-Stop Sukkah Shop’ Chabad of the Conejo will present “The One-Stop Sukkah Shop” from 3 to 8:30 p.m. Sun., Oct. 16 at Chabad Center, 30345 Canwood St., Agoura Hills. All the holiday needs for Sukkot will be available, including Esrog and Lulav sets, palm branches and Sukkah decorations. Frames by Lee will be on hand with supplies to build one’s own Sukkah in an easyto-assemble process. Sukkot, the Festival of Booths, is a festive holiday designated in the Bible as the Season of Rejoicing. During the holiday, Jewish families eat and spend time in a Sukkah, a temporary hut, to remind them of the clouds of glory that surrounded and protected the children of Israel after leaving the exile in Egypt. “Our joy on this holiday is the joy of survival, pride and a deepened relationship with the Almighty,” said Rabbi Moshe Bryski of Chabad. Each day of the holiday Jews make a blessing on the Four Species, a citron, a branch of date palm, a myrtle and willow. It represents the unity of the Jewish people and is waved in all directions while the blessings are made to signify that God is watching over Jews in all parts of the world. Chabad will also travel through the community on Thurs. and Fri., Oct. 20 and 21 and Sun., Oct. 23 with a Sukkah Mobile, a Sukkah built on the back of a flatbed truck. It will travel to shopping centers throughout the Conejo Valley and Calabasas offering the Jewish community the opportunity to visit a Sukkah and make the blessing of the four species.
