Reyes Adobe Days to start tomorrow in Agoura Hills

In the grand tradition of the rancho-period fiestas, the city of Agoura Hills will host Reyes Adobe Days, a three-day event offering educational and cultural experiences for all ages from Fri. to Sun., Oct. 14 to 16. The Adobe is at Reyes Adobe Park, 5464 Reyes Adobe Road at Rainbow Crest in Agoura Hills.

Celebrating the one-year anniversary of the Reyes Adobe Historical Site, festival activities begin Friday with a senior luncheon/ site tour and evening ranchotheme dance open to youth in grades 6 to 8.

Saturday events include a morning parade leading to the Reyes Adobe Historical Site where there will be early California music and dance, children’s games, pony rides, Native American crafts and demonstrations on blacksmithing, rancho cooking, and adobe brick making. Tours of the early-1800s period home and barn will be offered.

Sunday events begin with an 8K Run beginning at Reyes Adobe Park, followed by a pancake breakfast, Horse Play Day equestrian-related event at the Old Agoura Equestrian Arena and Taste of the West Cook-off. The festival concludes with an afternoon Concert in the Park. Most events are free.

The inaugural Reyes Adobe Days Parade, themed “Agoura Hills: Then and Now,” is scheduled for 9 a.m. Sat., Oct. 15. Awards will be presented to groups that most effectively incorporate this year’s theme.
