Local business to help Katrina victims

Westlake Village-based Western Publishers Association (WPA), a nonprofit trade association dedicated to advancing the business of print and electronic magazines in the western U.S., has created a special outreach program for journalists displaced by Hurricane Katrina.

“We want to help raise awareness of job opportunities that might exist within our association for those displaced who might be looking for part-time or even fulltime positions elsewhere,” said Jane Silbering, WPA executive director.

Interested candidates—journalists, photographers, artists and other media specialists—may send an email with their contact information, desired position and attached resume in word doc or PDF to wpa@wpa-online.org. WPA will post resumes online at no charge and notify members of the postings. For more information, call (805) 495-1863.
