PATRICK SHELBY/Acorn Newspapers GANG TACKLE—Agoura defenders Todd Dilando, No. 22, and Matt Bradley almost cause Rio Mesa’s Ina Liaina to fumble the football during the Chargers’ 24-14 victory last weekend. Outlook: There’s always electricity in the air when these two schools hook up, especially coming off last season’s results when OCHS handed Oak Park its only two loses, including a 39-21 defeat in the Div. XI championship game.

The Lions’ high-powered offensive attack is averaging 51.6 points per game through the first three weeks. But even more impressive is the fact that the Oaks Christian defense has given up just 17 points on the season.

Oak Park’s defense allowed Newbury Park quarterback Jordan LaSecla to throw for 333 yards and a pair of scores during a 24-13 defeat last Friday. Things won’t get any easier this week vs. OCHS quarterback Jimmy Clausen.

Outlook: Don’t look now, but Simi Valley appears to be the biggest preseason surprise in the Marmonte League and is starting to have that team-of-destiny feel.

The Pioneers won another close game last weekend, defeating Canyon, 34-27, behind a 313-yard, two-touchdown performance by quarterback Bryan Randolph.

Calabasas lost its third straight contest, 23-7, to Chaminade on the road last Friday.

Coyote quarterback Kevin May completed seven-of-25 passes for 128 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions in the defeat.

CHS will need to get running back Peter Epstein on track early in this game if the Coyotes hope to pull off the upset at home.
