Pause4Kids to host casino night

Pause4kids, a nonprofit organization in the Conejo Valley that advocates for, develops and implements programs for children with special needs in the local community, will host its fifth annual Casino Night Fundraiser at 7 p.m. Sat., Oct. 15 at Wood Ranch Country Club in Simi Valley.

Pause4kids offers parents with special needs children a haven for understanding, support and important information to assist them in raising their children.

Among their programs are special education advocacy training for parents and professionals, the annual Art-a-Thon event, parent support groups, golf clinics, Abilities Awareness for middle schools and summer camp for children with special needs. In addition, they have offered seasonal social skills camps, art expression programs, special needs trust seminars and acting workshops for kids with disabilities and their families.

These programs provide much needed skills and opportunities for children with disabilities and also create awareness in the community. Peer mentors and young volunteers have turned out to support these programs and the children in it.

The Pause4kids board is an all-volunteer group comprised of educators, special education specialists, advocates, attorneys and parents of children with special needs.
