Third annual Westlake City Celebration great for families

On Sun., Oct 30 residents from throughout the Conejo Valley are invited to a family-fun day of activities, games, good food and special performances at the third annual City Celebration hosted by the city of Westlake Village.

The day-long event will take place at the Westlake Lake Village Civic Center at 31200 Oak Crest Drive.

“City Celebration celebrates the people, families and organizations that make the city of Westlake Village so special,” said Kerry Kallman, the city’s community relations coordinator and one of the event’s planners.

Festivities begin at 7 a.m. with a pancake breakfast served by the Optimistic Club. Proceeds from the breakfast will be benefit the STAR program, the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department’s anti-drug campaign.

Starting at 8 a.m., White Oak Elementary School’s PFC will host its annual Fun Fair with carnival games, a climbing wall and a petting zoo.

“This event is not only important because it raises money for White Oak Elementary School, but it also introduces White Oak, which is the only elementary school in Westlake, to the entire community,” said Sue Klamert, one of the fair’s organizers.

Klamert said Westlake Baseball Association will have a sign-up booth open to youth interested in joining the league.

At 8 a.m., the Thousand Oaks/ Westlake Village Chamber of Commerce will host the 27th annual Great Pumpkin Runs and Health Fair, which include a 5K, 10K and one mile “fun run.” To register, call the Chamber of Commerce at (805) 370-0035.

The day will include In & Out burgers, an arts and crafts party hosted by the Westlake Village Junior Women’s Club and a free magic show sponsored by the Friends of Westlake Village Library.
