Linda Parks will seek reelection

Focus continues to be the environment

Linda Parks announced her decision last week to seek reelection as Ventura County Second District supervisor.

Parks, who first took office as a supervisor in January 2003, defeated Randy Hoffman with a little over 53 percent of the vote to take the seat.

Parks is a well-known environmentalist and slow-development advocate. She began her political career working on the Thousand Oaks Planning Commission and then served two terms as a Thousand Oaks City Councilmember. During her time as a council member, Parks also served as mayor.

“Some have called me a oneissue candidate,” Parks said. “If that’s the case, then my one issue is people. People deserve a safe, beautiful, healthy and uncongested place to live and raise their family.”

The county’s second district includes most of Conejo Valley, including Thousand Oaks, Westlake Village, Newbury Park, Lake Sherwood, Oak Park, Bell Canyon and Box Canyon, adjacent the Los Angeles County line, and the South Coast from Pt. Mugu south to the county line, including Hidden Valley, Port Hueneme and the south side of Oxnard.

Those interested can file for candidacy from Feb. 13 to March 10, 2006.
