City of Agoura Hills presents trips, tennis, more

Community Services Dept. offers full slate of activities

The city of Agoura Hills Department of Community Services is offering excursions, dance classes, sports programs and more. Here is a sampling of upcoming events. Residents may register for by calling (818) 597-7361 or by visiting the Agoura Hills Recreation Center, 30610 Thousand Oaks Blvd., Agoura Hills.

At 11 a.m. on Sat., Oct. 1, residents may board a bus from the recreation center for a trip to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art to view “The Treasures of Tutankhamun (King Tut).” The extensive exhibition includes more than 130 artifacts from the tomb of Tutankhamun, other Valley of the Kings tombs, plus other ancient sites.

The bus will return to Agoura Hills around 5 p.m. Trip fare is $43 and does not include lunch.

Tennis classes will be offered beginning the week of Oct. 3 and continuing for six weeks at Agoura High School, 28545 W. Driver Ave. Classes are available for youth to adult and various skill levels—beginning, advanced and intermediate. Fees range from $42 to $48. Please call for specific dates and times.

Four-week long semi-private and private tennis lessons are also available and lesson dates and times will be individually arranged between participants and the instructor.

Youth ages 6 to 14 may sign up for hip-hop dance classes to be offered Fridays, Oct. 7 through Dec. 9. Times vary, depending on age group. The cost for an eightweek session is $46.

Members of the Senior Recreation Program may participate in Mature Drivers Course, a defensive driving course designed to brush up the skills of seniors 55 and older. The fee for members is $12 and $14 for nonmembers. The class is from 9 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. Tues., Oct. 18. Full-day course attendance may entitle participants to reduced auto insurance rates.
