Calabasas announces rec classes

The city of Calabasas Community Services Department is offering several activities for children and adults in October.

Children ages 2 and 3 and their parents are invited to learn a variety of sports together in “My Little Sportster and Me,” from 9 to 9:30 a.m. Saturdays, beginning Oct. 1 through Nov. 5 at de Anza Park, 3701 Lost Hills Road and Calabasas Creekside Park.

Golf classes for children, teens and adults will be offered on Saturdays, from Oct. 1 through Nov. 5 at the Lindero Country Club in Agoura Hills. Classes will be taught by the Better Golf Academy. Class fee is $120.

The Agoura Hills/Calabasas Community Center is offering classes for students to get a workout when schoolwork is done. For home-schooled children or students doing independent study, this is a way to obtain physical education credits. Students may choose from gymnastics, basketball, or a general physical education course for credit, but all youth are invited to participate in any of these classes.

The physical education class cost is $100 per 10-week session. A variety of classes for different age groups will be offered Mondays, Sept. 26 to Nov. 28.

Dance classes are also offered at $100 per 10-week session and include jazz or hip hop instruction. These classes, for ages 6 through 14, are available on Tuesdays or Saturdays.

An eight-week session of tennis instruction for ages 7 to 12 will be offered Saturdays, Oct. 1 to Nov. 19 for a $100 fee.

Boys and girls in grades K-8 are invited to sign up for the Run & Shoot Fall Recreational Basketball League. Along with official co-ed basketball games and indoor practice times, the league now features team photos and certificates of achievement. Games begin Sat., Oct. 1. Games will be played on eight Saturdays from Oct. 1 to Nov. 19 at a cost of $150 per player.
