Scouts do their duty for Katrina

I wanted to let you know that the Girl Scouts in this area are doing their part to help the Hurricane Katrina survivors. Troops from Daisies to Seniors in the Las Virgenes Service Unit (a division within the San Fernando Valley Council) are putting together personal hygiene kits.

Each girl assembled a ziplock bag full of things like toothpaste, hand sanitizer, soap, toothbrush, notepad and pens. They also put a small toy and lollipops inside. Before sealing each bag, the girls made cards that said things like “Thinking of you, from your Girl Scout friends in Agoura Hills, California.” The supplies were bought with troop money raised by selling Girl Scout nuts and cookies.

My daughter’s Cadette Troop 724 assembled 20 bags at their meeting today. They will join bags from other troops in the area to be sent to a shelter in Texas. Jodi Regan Agoura Hills
