Preferable development

I have lived in Westlake Village First Neighborhood for 28 years. It has been a great place to live and raise a family. I had mixed feelings when I first read about the possibility of a Lowe’s store coming to our city.

I subsequently drove to the Russell Ranch road site twice to look at the proposed site. It is a large lot of land that is destined to be developed. I then drove to the Lowe’s store in Ventura to see what a typical Lowe’s store looks like. It is, as expected, a “big box” store, but well designed and well stocked. I particularly liked the fact that three different employees asked if they could help me during the short time I was in the store. That rarely happens in most of the similar stores in our area.

Of the three things that could fill that plot of land:

One, it will become a large business/office complex. Two, a

large apartment complex will somehow be developed there. Or three, we will have the Lowe’s Town Center.

All will bring more traffic and tax revenues. All things considered, I much prefer the Lowe’s Town Center to the other options. Michael L. Botsford Westlake Village
