It’s either the resort or the homes

In her Sept. 8 Acorn letter, Valerie Burkholder claims Brian Boudreau’s 81-lot subdivision, the site of the Malibu Valley Inn & Spa, is invalid because the sewer line being installed was permitted for another subdivision up the street and not the 81-lot tract map. So? When the county reviews a project, they consider every future project that may connect to the system the county is approving. When the county permitted the sewer, it knew the tract map was approved and expected those 81 homes to hook into this same system.

The existence of the 81-lot subdivision is true, which our county supervisor has admitted. It is time people like Miss Burkholder stop misleading the public into thinking that if they vote against the Inn & Spa, the property will not be developed. That just isn’t true.

The question being asked is whether the community wants 81 homes built on 443 acres, or a resort on 82 acres instead. Of the 152 acres to be annexed, 82 are for the resort, 60 for the existing equestrian facility and 10 acres which are not part of the resort.

I would rather have the resort and save 300 acres of open space over the 81 homes. Angelica Cardiel Agoura Hills
