Wants your vote

I am writing for your vote in the Agoura Hills City Council election this November. There are three seats available and each citizen may vote for three different candidates. I am asking for one of your votes and I hope you will give my candidacy every consideration.

Over the past few years, the city council has not done its job. I feel the people of Agoura Hills want and deserve better from their elected officials. The current City Council and Planning Commission have approved too many office buildings. The city is already saturated with office space—much of which remains empty—generating little revenue for the city and little benefit for our residents. I would prefer to see these properties remain as open space or be considered for development of restaurants or retail businesses that would bring sales tax revenue to the city.

I believe very strongly in beautifying our city, both to maintain high property values and encourage civic pride. We consistently see our neighboring cities improve their aesthetic appeal while our own city lets the weeds grow. If elected, I will immediately propose a beautification project encompassing the whole city.

Fixing the 101-Kanan interchange is very important to me. Shortly before Rep. Henry Waxman became the congressman for Agoura Hills due to redistricting, I traveled to Washington, D.C. to lobby his office for additional federal funding to fix the interchange. This was a very important first step to securing federal funding and I look forward to the interchange finally being fixed.

I ask for your vote this November and together we can work to make Agoura Hills fulfill her potential. Thank you for your consideration. George Christopher Thomas Agoura Hills
