Homecoming royalty and floats needed for Reyes Adobe Days

Organizers of the Reyes Adobe Days Parade, scheduled for 9 a.m. Sat., Oct. 15, are seeking past homecoming queens and kings of Agoura High School, and also inviting area businesses, schools and civic organizations to design and build parade floats.

“We’re searching for past homecoming queens, kings and members of the court from Agoura High School to participate in this new premiere event,” said Donna Conlin, recreation manager.

Homecoming court applications and float applications must be received by 4 p.m. Fri., Sept. 30. Parade registration packets were mailed to businesses and organizations the first week of August.

The one-mile parade route will begin at the intersection of Thousand Oaks Boulevard and Ironwood and will proceed to the Reyes Adobe Historical Site. The event will feature Native American performers, mariachi bands, craft vendors, rides, games and tours of the historical site. Taste of the West

Reyes Adobe Days Taste of the West contest will take place on Sun., Oct. 16 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Whizin’s Center.

Restaurants and individual cooks will create western/ ranchothemed cuisine for the public to sample. Amateur cooks will compete for a giftfilled basket and trophy while restaurants will compete for an official Reyes Adobe Day plaque. Participating restaurants will be acknowledged.

Taste of the West competition will will take place during a family carnival and precede the finale concert for Reyes Adobe Days.
