Free child ID kits

A shopping trip this Labor Day weekend can equip parents with important child safety resources.

From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sat., Sept. 3, Wal-Mart stores nationwide, along with the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children and Ross Products, will offer families free child ID kits that include leading DNA technology and a place for the child’s photo.

The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children recommends the following:

•Keep a good quality, current photograph of your child.

•Never let children go places alone. Be clear about where they are allowed to visit.

•Always know where your children are and whom they are with.

•Never leave your children unattended in an automobile.

•Talk openly to your children about safety.
