YMCA wants youth in government

The Triunfo YMCA, which serves Westlake Village, Agoura Hills and Oak Park, is signing up high school students who will be sophomores, juniors and seniors next year for its Youth and Government program.

“Youth and Government teaches teens about every facet of government,” said Patrick Yarrow, program director at the Triunfo YMCA.

Members participate with other teens from around California in two, two-day training and election and at a five-day conference in Sacramento. They write and debate their own bills and laws, participate in their own court system and elect government positions, including governor and speaker of the Assembly and Senate.

Youth and Government meetings begin in mid-September. For more information, call Yarrow at (818) 707-9622.
