Oak Park students attend summer leaders conference

Hannah Mansky of Oak Park participated in the National Young Leaders Conference in Washington, D.C. from July 23 through Aug. 2.

The conference was a leadership development program for high school students who have demonstrated leadership potential and scholastic merit.

Mansky was one of about 400 scholars from around the country at the conference.

Throughout the 10-day conference, Mansky interacted with personnel who work in the three branches of government, the news media and the international community.

Mansky participated in meetings, briefings, leadership skill-building activities, simulations and examined Supreme Court cases.

The conference culminated with the model congress, in which students debated, amended and voted on proposed mock legislation.

The conference was sponsored by the Congressional Youth Leadership Council, a nonprofit, nonpartisan educational organization. For more information, please visit www.cylc.org.
