Foundation hands out scholarships The Ventura County Community Foundation (VCCF) awarded more than $600,000 in scholarships to 217 local students as part of its annual scholarship program. The dollar amount of scholarships awarded this year is double the amount from a year ago and represents an expansion of several key initiatives. “We are thrilled to be able to help so many deserving students pursue their dreams of obtaining a college education,” said Mary Leavens Schwabauer, chair of the VCCF board and the scholarship advisory. The foundation has over $12.8 million in endowed funds for scholarships and student-related programs. Scholarships receipients from Oak Park and Westlake Village include:
