Westlake, Oak Park students earn B’nai B’rith scholarships

Haverim B’nai B’rith, one of the largest Jewish organizations in the Conejo Valley, has awarded three local high school seniors $500 scholarships to be used for their college education.

The awards were based on 250-word essays that the students submitted regarding their volunteer service to the community. They had to explain if their service made any change in their lives. They also had to submit reference letters from their supervisors at the places they volunteered.

Recipients of the Haverim B’nai B’rith Scholarships are: Tiffany (Ping) Chen, Westlake High School; Kevin Yavari, Oak Park High; and Rupal Shah, Moorpark High School.

The students also were recognized by Haverim B’nai B’rith at the June 20 meeting of the unit at Temple Adat Elohim in Thousand Oaks.
