HISTORY COMES ALIVE—Leonis Adobe invites children seven and older to learn about performing arts in an historic setting. Kids will learn writing, directing and set design and will perform at the end of the week-long camp. Children age seven and up are invited to participate in the Leonis Adobe Museum’s summer theater program where they can learn all about theater production in a rancho setting. Participants will learn writing, directing and set design and will perform their production for the public. The summer theater program is new at the museum.

“We are offering a program for older kids in the community to enjoy their unusual museum,” said Melanie Sliwka, theater program director at the Museum. “Our camp gives them a great opportunity to be with their friends and do something enjoyable while using their history trivia in a creative way. My goal is to mix a little bit of history and a little bit of culture with a whole lot of fun.”

Reservations are currently being accepted for the two weeklong sessions, offered from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. from July 18 to 22 and Aug. 15 to 19. The fee for camp is $100 and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to Spotlight the Arts Foundation for a theater in the proposed Calabasas city hall complex.

Registration forms are available at the Leonis Adobe Museum, 23537 Calabasas Road, Old Town Calabasas. For more information on the camp, call Sliwka at (818) 800-8850.
