Beware of the coyotes

I live in Oak Park, near Bayberry and Conifer, and have concerns about the coyotes in our community.

Two weekends ago I lost two cats to the coyotes; one Friday night, that I was unaware of, and one on Saturday night, which I witnessed right outside my kitchen.

It will take a long time to forget what I heard and saw. On Sunday, I spoke with another neighbor, whose cat had disappeared on Saturday night, also.

This letter is written as a warning to my other neighbors: Your animals are not safe. The coyotes are in our yards.

The cats who were killed are not the cats you see running around the neighborhood. They were just enjoying their own yard.

I hope this letter will save at least one treasured pet. Andrea Verdick Oak Park
