July events in Agoura Hills The city of Agoura Hills Department of Community Services provides a variety of summer activities for children, teens and adults. Most events will take place at the Agoura Hills Recreation Center, 30610 Thousand Oaks Blvd., Agoura Hills. • “Camp Summer Fun” for children ages 6 through 10 continues through Aug. 26. The camp meets 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Mondays through Thursdays, at Yerba Buena Elementary School in Agoura Hills. Activities include games, sports, crafts and swimming. Field trips are available on Fridays. The fee is $24 per day. • John Hodak, a certified hypno-therapist, will continue his course “Mental Management Training for Weight Control” from 7:45 to 8:45 p.m. today and Thurs., July 14. Participants learn to turn unhealthy habits into positive lifestyle changes through stress management and visualization. The class costs $25 with an additional $15 materials fee. • Team packets are available for the Adult Basketball League, which plays from 6 to 10 p.m. Sundays and 7 to 10 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, beginning this week at the Agoura Hills/ Calabasas Community Center. • Registrations are being accepted for “Summer Stock,” an acting program for teens age 11 to 17 to learn the arts and crafts of theatre. The class will meet from 1 to 5:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, July 11 through Aug. 12 at Yerba Buena Elementary School, Agoura Hills. The program will culminate in a full-length play. The program cost is $425 per student. • A Typing/Keyboarding class for teens age 11 through 17 will be held Wednesdays, July 13 through Aug. 17. Participants have a choice of three sessions: 12:15 to 1:15 p.m., 1 p.m. to 2:15 p.m. or 2:15 to 3:15 p.m. The class cost is $60. • The Mature Drivers Course is a defensive driving course designed for seniors age 55 and up. This community service class will meet from 9 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. Tues., July 26. Students must attend the entire day to receive course credit, which can help reduce auto insurance rates. The fee is $12 for Senior Center registrants or $14 for non-registrants.
