City helps tenants with rental needs Tenants in Calabasas who need rental assistance can now apply for help with the city. The Calabasas Rental Assistance Program provides monthly subsidies between $60 and $80 to eligible recipients from as early as Sept. 1 to June 30, 2007. The eligibility requirements for the program are as follows: 1. You must have been renting a unit in the city of Calabasas as of July 1, 2005. 2. You must have received a 2004 gross annual income amount below 80 percent of Los Angeles County’s Median Income. 3. You or your spouse must be 62 years of age or older or receive disability benefits under the Supplemental Security Income Program. Year 2004-05 program participants who were qualified as disabled but who fail to meet the year 2005-06 disability requirements may retain their disabled status for the first year of the expanded program, which ends on June 30, 2006. Applications for rental assistance may be picked up at city hall, 26135 Mureau Road, Calabasas. Completed applications must be sent to Erica Roess, Planner, City of Calabasas, 26135 Mureau Road, Calabasas, CA 91302 no later than 5 p.m. Mon., Aug. 1. Applications received after Aug. 1 will be taken on a firstcome, first-serve basis, provided enough applications from eligible residents are received. |
