Calabasas vs. Agoura Hills

What a stark contract between the cities of Calabasas and Agoura Hills. Calabasas Mayor Barry Groveman’s guest editorial in a recent edition of The Acorn showed a city on the move with a new civic center being built, solutions being implemented for traffic congestion, increased funding for our schools and healthy reserves in a city that reaches out to the business community.

Compare that mayor’s approach to the very defensive letter to the editor last week from the major of Agoura Hills.

In funding for the schools, why can’t the mayor show us what specific services and items were provided, like was done in Calabasas? Why should hard working parents have to go to the city archives and fish out what Agoura Hills has given? It’s because they only gave what is mandatory and it’s an election year.

Instead of spending money for horse trails and to buy Soka University, which is outside the city, the money could have gone for our kids. Can’t Agoura Hills ask Calabasas or Thousand Oaks for a bridge loan? Maybe out of community spirit, they will give it to us at only prime plus two. Zane Widdes Agoura Hills
