John Hopkins honors locals

The Johns Hopkins University (JHU) Center for Talented Youth recently honored a number of Conejo Valley students in grades 7 and 8 for academic excellence in a ceremony at the University of Southern California in May. The youth who were recognized had scored in the 97th percentile or above on standardized tests then were invited by JHU to take a more rigorous set of above-the-grade exams.

The following students were saluted as being among the most academically gifted seventhand eighth-graders in the state:

Colina Middle School: Robert Dillon, Westlake Village; Jesse Hu, Thousand Oaks; Amelia Scheck, Thousand Oaks.

Lindero Canyon Middle School: Alex Yeh, Westlake Village.

Medea Creek Middle School:

Andrew Lerman, Oak Park.

Oaks Christian School:

Kristen Kruger, Calabasas.

Redwood Middle School:

Cindy Hocutt, Thousand Oaks; Henly Ko, Thousand Oaks; Benjamin Moon, Thousand Oaks.

Sycamore Canyon School:

Royce Wells, Newbury Park.

Viewpoint School: George Brooks, Westlake Village.
