Against the editorial

It is unclear who wrote the article “Much Ado About Heschel” in the May 26 opinion section of The Acorn. After reading the article, I felt compelled to write in protest of what was written.

The Heschel project is not just an Old Agoura issue. I have been in the real estate and mortgage business for over 25 years and I have never felt so compelled to fight a project as this one. The project is being placed directly behind onehalf acre horse properties at the interchange of Driver and Chesebro.

There are already two schools on Driver within a half-mile radius.

There are no sidewalks or streetlights in Old Agoura.

The freeway is a disaster heading east any time after 3 p.m. and admittedly this project will bring 1,500 or more cars into our community daily. The project is huge and will take several years to complete while we are forced to navigate the traffic, construction equipment, dirt and noise.

Our Las Virgenes school system is one of the finest in California. We have many private schools already.

The community will need to realize what this project will do to our city and freeways. It will affect every single person who travels the Ventura freeway system and depreciate property value throughout Old Agoura.
