Four Oak Park Seniors earn Girl Scouts’ Gold Award
Four Oak Park High School girls received the Gold Award, the highest achievement in senior Girl Scouting, at a ceremony at the Oak Park Community Center on May 15.

Lindsay Bailey earned more than 35 merit badges.
Her book drive project benefited the libraries of the city and Oak Park High School. She was a member of National Honor Society, drama club and Youth in Government. Her parents are Carol and Steve Bailey of Oak Park.
Jenna Bushore earned a Girl Scout leadership award and served as a camp counselor. She developed a community plot to benefit local gardeners for her project. At school she served as an advanced peer counselor, senior class vice president, assistant producer of the school talent show and chaired two school blood drives.
Bushore said she looks forward to staying involved with Girl Scouts, helping local troops with their various ceremonies.
Bushore earned the LMU leadership scholarship and was a member of National Honor Society. Her parents are Jay and Donna Bushore of Oak Park.
Alexandra Martin served as a Girl Scout recruiter for Brookside Elementary School and was troop coleader. She earned the Girl Scout leadership award.
For her project, Martin translated maps, brochures and signs into Spanish at the of Model United Nations and copresident of art club.
Martin was a member of CamMuseum of Natural History and Page Museum of Los Angeles. At school, Martin served as president pus Light Christian Club, volleyball team, National Honor Society and Humanitarian Aid Global Dialogues Institute. Her awards included the Jack London Foundation short story honorable mention, National Merit Commended Scholar, Ventura County Star Scholar, Ronald Reagan Presidential Library Scholar and California Scholarship Federation. Her parents are Jody and Sue Martin of Oak Park.
Kelsey Nolan earned 35 merit badges and the Girl Scout Leadership Award. She served as a camp counselor. For her project she held a shower to benefit the Angels Way home.
“Doing my project wasn’t as nerve wracking as I thought it would be because three of the other girls were also doing their projects, which kind of took the spotlight off of each of us,” Nolan said.
“I think that really made a difference.” Nolan said having three close friends in Girl Scouts helped motivate her to earn the Gold Award.
Nolan’s activities included cheerleading, National Honor Society, California Scholarship Federation, student confirmation leader, ASB community service commissioner, YMCA youth and government and Eucharistic minister at St. Maximillian Kolbe Church.
Nolan’s parents are Joe and Blanca Nolan of Oak Park.
