Community activities in full force this summer

The city of Agoura Hills Department of Community Services will present programs this summer to provide community members with everything from an opportunity to learn how to speak Italian like Sophia Loren to how to swing a golf club like Tiger Woods.

Unless noted otherwise, classes are at the Agoura Hills Recreation Center, 30610 Thousand Oaks Blvd., Agoura Hills. To register for any of these classes or for more details on these and other programs, call (818) 597-7361.

Beginning and intermediate Italian language classes are offered for ages 16 and up on Monday evenings beginning June 27 for an $89 fee.

M.C. Callaghan will present beginners’ Swing dance lesson from 1 to 3 p.m. Sat., June 25, then from 3 to 5 p.m. she will be giving Salsa lessons. Singles and couples are welcome, with the cost at $20 per person per lesson.

Boys and girls ages 6 to 12 can learn golf etiquette as well as the technical components of the game and game swing on Saturday mornings from July 9 to Aug. 27 at Lindero Country Club in Agoura Hills. The cost is $150. A golf clinic for adults will be presented from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays, June 28 to Aug.

16; the cost is also $150. Equipment will be provided.

Budding thespians ages 11 to 17 may hone their acting skills in the “Summer Stock” program presented from 1 to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, July 11 to Aug. 12, at Yerba Buena Elementary School in Agoura Hills. The registration fee is $425. Call the Center for information on other acting programs that may be available this summer.

Kids ages 6 to 14 can attend a very cool program this summer:

Hip Hop dance classes on Friday afternoons beginning July 8 at the Center. The cost for an 8-week session is $46. Week-long Hip Hop Dance Camps are offered from 9 to 11 a.m. at Chumash Park in Agoura Hills.
