Several important nonprofit organizations in the community will receive donations from the city of Agoura Hills.

Agoura High School was the recipient of $2,500 for its music program and Grad Night, an annual event celebrating the graduating seniors.

The Conejo/Las Virgenes Future Foundation received a $2,000 grant, although it had requested $2,500.

The money will help sponsor forums on quality of life issues facing residents of the Conejo Valley.

The Conejo Youth Employment Service, which connects teens to jobs in the area, was granted $500, the same amount as last year.

Many Mansions, a nonprofit group that helps people in need with affordable housing, was given $1,000 from the city. Nichole Lanse, director of resource development for Many Mansions, said the money will be used for the Stoll Community House and for case management and job development program costs.

The New West Symphony requested $3,000 to support its youth education outreach program for local elementary schools, but was allotted $1,000—the same amount provided by the city in 2004.

Two thousand dollars was granted to the Wellness Community this year. The group offers support to cancer patients and their families.

Triunfo YMCA also received $2,000 from the city to support a variety of youth programs, including the Youth and Government program for teens.

The Friendship Circle, a group that was created by the Chabad of the Conejo to support families with special needs children, had its grant request denied.
