Spotlight the Arts off to a good start Spotlight the Arts members enthusiastically welcomed the unanimous decision of the Calabasas City Council on Jan. 19 to wholeheartedly support our fund-raising efforts towards the building of a free-standing community theater, which we believe will bring distinguished recognition to Calabasas and become the cultural heart of the community. Spotlight the Arts members have been working hard to build our membership, now over 200 strong, thanks in large part to the sponsored ads in The Acorn. We are planting the seeds in preparation for future fundraising. We are well on our way to achieving our objective of hiring a top-flight architectural firm and conducting feasibility studies, both necessary for major donor fundraising. As the plans for the new civic center evolve and consideration is given to the development of neighboring properties, we trust that due regard will be given to the requirements of developing a performing arts theater, and associated access and parking issues, on the site set aside for that purpose. We look forward to working with the city to create a wonderful legacy for Calabasas in the form of our very own community theater.
