Hazardous waste disposal available Sunday

Residents of the county of Los Angeles can safely discard household hazardous waste and e-waste for free from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sun., June 5 at the Calabasas Landfill, 5300 Lost Hills Road, Agoura. This offer is open to residents of Agoura Hills, Calabasas, Hidden Hills, Westlake Village, Malibu and Los Angeles.

Items that may be discarded include motor oil, paint, turpentine, cleaners that contain acids or lye, aerosol products such as hairspray and air fresheners, household and car batteries, pesticides, garden herbicides, VCRs, stereos, fax machines, computer keyboards and cellular phones.

The free Countywide Household Hazardous and E-Waste Roundup is sponsored by the County of Los Angeles, the Department of Public Works and the Sanitation Districts of Los Angeles County. The Roundup promotes public awareness of proper disposal practices of household hazardous and e-waste which can pollute the environment. It is illegal to discard these items in trash cans, sinks and storm drains.
