Citizens to be recognized

The third annual Spirit of Community Awards Celebration will be presented by Amgen and the Thousand Oaks-Westlake Village Community Foundation from 7 to 9 p.m.

Fri., June 10 at the Hyatt Westlake Plaza, 880 S. Westlake Blvd., Westlake Village.

The event will honor local teachers, firefighters, police officers, and a special community volunteer for dedication and service to local communities. The public is invited to attend the celebration, which includes a dessert reception and program.

Admission is $25.

Throughout the school year teachers are recognized from the Las Virgenes and the Conejo Valley Unified School Districts. All of these teachers will be applauded in addition to the Teacher of the Year recipient from each district.

New for this year is the presentation of an award for the Community Volunteer of the Year.

The T.O-Westlake Chamber of Commerce and guests also will honor local law enforcement individuals from the Thousand Oaks Police Department, the Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station and the Ventura County Fire Department.
